Abstract
536,267. Band clips. ROBINSON, E. B. Nov. 20, 1939, Nos. 30408 and 31'749. [Class 44] A hose clip tightened by a worm, as described in Specifications 203,262, 293,279, [both in Class 44], 523,313, 523,314, 523,315 and 523,316, is provided with locking or sealing means, to prevent operation of the worm, comprising a cap 1, Figs. 1, 4, threaded on to the worm 3 and embracing the worm housing 2, the cap having lugs 4 with apertures 5 which align with a hole or with the operating slot 7 in the worm head to receive a cotter or a wire 6 the ends of which receive a seal 9. In Fig. 9 the cap is replaced by a plate 1 with projections 10 to straddle the housing. In a modification pips replace the projections 10, and in further modifications a sleeve-like member spot-welded on the housing has a tubular, or U-form extension embracing the worm head and with holes to receive the wire. Fig. 12 shows a further form in which a wire passed through a lug 12 on the housing 2 is engaged in the slot 7 of the worm head and sealed at 9 after twisting, the lug being soldered to, pressed up from, or stamped out from, the housing.
