Abstract
558,581. Piezo-electric crystal mountings. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd. Jan. 13, 1943, No. 656. Convention date, June 30, 1941. [Class 40 (v)] A piezo-electric crystal having electrodes on the major surfaces are mounted in conducting clips which engage the crystal only on its minor surfaces or on its edges. In Figs. 1 and 2 a crystal plate C has electrodes 1, 2 on its major surfaces and each electrode is extended round one end of the crystal as at 1a, 2a. The crystal is mounted in spring clips 3, 4 each having a part h secured to an insulating base 5, and a part f which surrounds the crystal and passes through a slot in the main part. This enables the crystal to be readily removed by depressing the tongue f. The clip is shaped so that it engages the crystal only on its minor faces as at 1a, Fig. 2, or only on the edges between the major and minor faces, Figs. 3-6 (not shown), Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown) describe a means for mounting two crystals on opposite sides of a base plate, wherein the clips are U-shaped, the arms being sharply bent so as only to engage the edges of the crystals.
