Abstract
296,831. Read, F. June 15, 1927. Binding-posts; connectors.- A wire is gripped betwen a pair of plates a, b hinged loosely together at one end and adjusted by means of a screw c or other pressing device at the other end. The hinge may consist of a lug a<1> passing through a slot b<1> in the other member b and having a bent end a<2> that may fit closely to or be at a little distance from the back of the member b. Or the hinge may be a rivet fixed in one plate and passed loosely through a hole in the other plate, or a lug having a hole therein that receives a tongue on the other plate, or the two plates may be the two leaves of a U-shaped spring. One edge a<3> of either plate may be bent up to facilitate inserting the wire, and the faces of the plates may be concave to receive it. The screw may be replaced by a spring clip. A flange b<3> provides for the mounting of the binding-post and making connection thereto. Two such clamping devices may be mounted at opposite ends of a single plate. A spring between the plates may serve to separate them when the screw is loosened.
