Abstract
533,731. Piezo-electric crystal mountings. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. Nov. 17, 1939, No. 30276. Convention date, Dec. 30, 1938. [Class 40 (v)] A shock proof mounting for a piezo-electric crystal comprises two strips of metal bent to form two pairs of arms 14, 15 and 16, 17 which are mounted together in spaced relationship by means of screws 26, 28 and insulating spacers 24 and 25. Two metal studs such as 33 are mounted in the middle of the pairs of arms and present two abutting surfaces which, when sprung apart, are adapted to embrace opposite metallised surfaces of a piezo-electric crystal 40. The whole assembly is mounted on an insulating block 6 by means of springy wires 12, 13 which also serve as leads and are connected to external pins 4, 5. A metal cover 1 is soldered to the base 2 and may be evacuated. Mica strips 35, 36 clamped to the arms 14, 17 serve to prevent undue lateral movement of the assembly.
