Abstract

536,163. Friction clutches. GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION. March 9, 1940, No. 4433. Convention date, March 25, 1939. [Class 80 (ii)] A friction clutch plate 31 is provided with a number of spring plates 33, 35 to opposite sides of which are secured friction facings 57, 57<1>. The plates 33 alternate with the plates 35 and, as shown in Fig. 8, comprise a portion 37 for connection to the plate 31, a portion 45 co-planar with the portion 37 leading by an angular portion 47 to a portion 49 parallel to the portion 45. Parallel slots 51, 53 connected by a slot 55 are formed in the portions 47, 49 The plates 35 have attaching portions 63 and portions 65, 71 in the same plates respectively as the portions 45, 49 of the plates 33, the portions 65, 71 being connected by angular slotted portions 69. The facing 57 is connected by rivets 59, 73 to the portions 49, 71 and the facing 57' by rivets 62, 67 to the portions 45, 65.
