Abstract

536,044. Envelopes. ORGAN L. M. July 29, 1940, No. 12257. [Class 146 (ii)] An envelope for repeated use consists of a sheet of paper having on one side a series of gummed tabs E and on the other side a series of slots F, each slot having its notched tab G, the sheet at one end having the corners A<SP>1</SP> cut out to form the flap A. This flap has two lines of perforation or scoring B, C with narrow edgings of adhesive D. The tabs G are notched at H while the tabs E are produced by V-shaped incisions. In use, the flap A is gummed down and all the tabs turned in except the front central tabs E*, G* which secure the envelope, the address being written at X and the stamps placed in one of the spaces adjacent to a cut-away corner A<SP>1</SP>. These central tabs are slit on opening and the envelope is then refolded along the line Z the second address being written at Y. The flap A between the adhesive strips D preserves the final address space from postmarks and is torn away when this final position is reached.
