Abstract
535,824. Typewriters &c. NATIONAL CASH REGISTER CO. Oct. 19, 1939, No. 28213. Convention date, Nov. 19, 1938. [Class 100 (iv)] Paper-feeding arrangements.-To ensure uniform and straight feed of the paper by means of platen and co-operating feed-rollers, the feedrollers are driven through frictional connections at a greater surface speed than the platen. The feed-rollers 21, Fig. 1, are mounted on a shaft 15 and are frictionally coupled thereto by means of springs 22 which abut on adjustable collars 23. The shaft is mounted in spring-urged arms 16, 17 and is provided with a pinion 14 which meshes with a pinion 13 on the platen 10, the pinions causing the feed-rollers to have a slightly greater surface speed than the platen. The arrangement is particularly applicable for feeding a tally-strip 26. In an alternative arrangement, each feed-roller is frictionally coupled to the shaft by means of one or more bent spring- blades arranged within the feed-roller. Preferably, the feed-rollers are provided with a sleeve having internal rings at the ends for engaging the shaft, the spring-blade being arranged in the space between the shaft and sleeve. The rings may abut on split rings mounted in grooves in the shaft. Specification 424,132 is referred to.
