[Class 44] In the manufacture of non-metallic sliding- clasp fasteners a flat strip 11 of non-metallic material of plastics type, is marginally secured to the edges of a pair of spaced tapes 13, 14, Fig. 7. As shown, the strip is pre-formed with teeth 12. Material is then removed by stamping out to leave a ladder-like series of blanks 15, Fig. 8, which is then bent to final U-form, Fig. 9, with the non-metallic material outside and the tapes superposed. Alternatively, a non-metallic strip may be secured centrally along a single tape and brought to ladder-like form by stamping &c. so that in the finished form, the whole of each element 15 is backed by tape material. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 includes the use of a slotted tape, the separate formation of the individual members 15 prior to securing the tape, the moulding of such members in situ, and the final bending to U-form with the tape outside so that each fastener member is fabric covered. A list of suitable non-metallic materials is also given. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
