Abstract

535,553. Heat regenerators for hot-gas engines &c. PHILIPS LAMPS, Ltd. April 17, 1940, No. 6966. Convention date, April 20, 1939. [Class 7 (i)] [Also in Group XIII] A heat regenerator applicable tc hot-gas engines contains a quantity of wire or thread formed of refractory material whose thickness does not exceed 0.05 mm., for example, nickel-chromium wire or quartz thread. The regenerator chamber 1 communicating through tubes 2, 3 with the hot and cold parts of the engine, is filled with a plug 4, or a number of pellets or discs, formed of intermingled pieces of the wire, and the wall of the regenerator may be made of material of the low heat conductivity such as ferro-chromium, nickel-chromium iron, or porcelain or other ceramic material.
