Abstract
535,532. Locking screws. BRITISH BELTING & ASBESTOS. Ltd.. and HALEY, G. L. April 8, 1940, No. 6303. [Class 89 (i)] Screws, used for fixing material in place that has a lower modulus of elasticity than the screws, are locked in position by drilling the hole for the screw head slightly smaller than the head diameter. The lower edge of the head may be rounded to ensure that the hole is expanded without cutting and the mouth of the hole may be slightly countersunk to facilitate entry. The hole may be of two diameters to provide a sealing for the head as at 10. The holes may taper slightly towards the entrance end. The locking means is especially applicable in the fixing of synthetic resin-bonded fabricfilled or like sheets to metal members.
