[Class 75 (i)] [Also in Group XXVIII] In a means for flushing with hot fluid the discharge conduits of a pipe system for supplying materials which are liquid only at raised temperatures, for example pitch, the hot flushing-fluid is introduced into the system at a point close to the valve controlling the entry of the pitch etc. Fig. 2 shows a conduit 10 supplying heated pitch to a discharge conduit 25 leading to a burner 37, the supply being controlled by a valve 17. A second valve 30 is arranged opposite the discharge for controlling the supply of steam under pressure for flushing. The two valves may be interconnected so that one is closed when the other is open.
