Abstract

534,988. Valve circuits. HAZEL'TINE CORPORATION. Jan. 15, 1940, No. 879. Convention date, Feb. 1, 1939. [Class 40 (v)] The damping of a tuned circuit is reduced by connecting it across the output of valve giving positive reaction, and the arrangement is stabilised by providing negative feed-back so proportioned as to result in the effective introduction of a negative resistance into the tuned circuit. An amplifier 10 has input terminals 11 and output terminals 12. The output circuit includes an inductance 13 coupled to an inductance 14 which is coupled by an inductance 16 to the output terminals 12. Inductance 14 comprises with condenser 15 a tuned circuit which is coupled across the output electrodes of a valve 20 by means of a resistance 21 whose inherent capacity is neutralised by an inductance 23. This provides a negative feed-back voltage while a positive feed back is provided by an inductance 24 coupled to inductance 14 and connected to the control grid of valve 20. The joint effect of the two feed-back means is to introduce a negative resistance into circuit 14, 15, the valve of which is never such as to cause instability due to changes in transconductance of the valve 20.
