Abstract

534,900. Explosives. AMERICAN CYANAMID CO. Sept. 18, 1939, No. 26074. Convention date, Aug. 17 [Class 9 (ii)] Explosive compositions such as dynamites have the absorbent carrier made from a porous combustible substance selected from the group consisting of phenol-formaldehyde condensation products, regenerated celluloses, and cellulose esters and ethers, the explosive being contained within the pores of the carrier. Suitable porous substances are those described in U.S.A. Specifications 1,092,512, 2,043.564, 2,077,412, 2,105,380, 2,116,611 and 2,117,392. Solid or liquid explosives may be incorporated in the pores, explosive salts and explosive nitro compounds such as nitroglycerine being mentioned. An oxygen carrier and a liquid sensitizer therefor may also be absorbed in the pores of the carrier. The porous carrier may be of non-uniform porosity and may be moulded to shape. Specification 513,633 also is referred to.
