534,044. Troughing-rollers for conveyer belts. GENARD, G., and MASSAUT, P. Nov. 18, 1939. No. 30317 [Class 78(i)] A troughing roller for a conveyer belt comprises a hollow cylinder of rubber or like resilient material, rotatably and pivotallysupported at its ends so as to flex under load. Fig. 1 shows a plain rubber roller 1 with end bearings trunnioned at 6 in supports 7. It is rotated by contact with the belt. Fig. 3 shows a moulded rubber roller with annular recesses 10 between the knobs 9. These recesses may also be produced by applying pressure to a pre-formed rubber tube. Fig. 4 shows a coil spring 12 stiffening the interior of a rubber tube. As variants of this construction the coil spring may be lodged in a helical recess in the periphery of the roller or moulded into the thickness of the wall. Fig. 8 shows an inner tube 19 inflated through the valve 20. Other constructions show contacting balls filling the interior of the tube. Fig. 15 shows a variant of the latter construction in which members 25 have inter-engaging semi-spherical projections and recesses. Fig. 16 shows a rubber tube 28 divided at intervals by a solid neck 29. In all constructions the wearing surface may be corrugated, fluted or roughened.
