Abstract

734,549. Rubber springs. SOC. APPLICAZIONI GOMMA ANTIVIBRANTI S.A.G.A. SOC. PER AZIONI. June 12, 1953 [Dec. 11, 1952], No. 16282/53. Class 108 (3). A rubber compression spring comprises a tubular body 6 of rubber, the inner and outer periphery of which is made up of a series of curves, so that under increasing load, successive portions of the inner and outer peripheries come into progressively increasing compression contact, the curves of the inner periphery being in staggered relation to the curves of the outer periphery, the ends of the curves of the inner periphery lying on a line which is nearer to the axis B of the spring than the line on which lie the ends of the outer periphery. A spring d is disposed in a helical groove of the inner periphery of the body 6. The spring may alternatively be dis. posed in the valleys e of the body 6 (Fig. 5, not shown), or may be embedded in the rubber (Figs. 3 and 4, not shown). The pitch of the spring d may be twice that of the helix defined by the shape of the body 6 (Fig. 4, not shown). The body 6 need not however be of helical form (Fig. 1, not shown), and the spring d may be dispensed with.
