Abstract

939,723. Idler rollers for endless belt conveyers. MINING ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. July 7, 1960 [July 9, 1959], No. 23697/59. Class 78 (1). Each roller of a troughed idler roller assembly comprises a rigid tube 15 on which are mounted two end units 16 and intermediate units 17, the end units having one external rib 18, a cylindrical end portion 19 and internal ribs 20 separated by V-grooves, the internal grooves forming annular air cushions. The intermediate units 17 each comprise one or two external ribs and one or two internal grooves. The units are of moulded synthetic or natural rubber, have interlocking annular beads 25 and sockets 26, and are compressed axially by washers 23 which are retained in position by circlips or spring rings 24. The tube 15 is rotatably mounted on ball-bearings on a spindle, Figs. 5, 6 (not shown).
