Abstract

534,041. Vehicle brakes. ROVER CO., Ltd., and IVERSEN, P. A. SCOTT-. Aug. 28, 1939, No. 24653. [Class 103 (i)] Hydraulically-oper. ated friction brakes have in combination with the shoes a friction stop adapted to hold the shoes in contact with complementary members such as brake drums of vehicle brakes. In the construction of Fig. 2 the operating piston d operating the shoe b has a frictional force exerted upon it through a spring ring k, mounted in a groove of the piston and pressing against the walls of the cylinder c; in a modification of this form a helical compression spring is inserted in a groove together with the ring k so that the force is exerted upon the piston through the compression spring. In similar constructions the spring k is mounted in the cylinder walls and grips the piston. In other constructions the friction elements may be connected by links to the shoes or one element may be mounted on one shoe and connected to another.
