Abstract

1359989 Disc brakes GENERAL MOTORS (FRANCE) 25 Nov 1971 [10 Dec 1970] 58631/70 Heading F2E In a floating caliper disc brake the caliper 6 is slidably supported on the arms 3 of a carrier by pins 18 which also carry the pads 7, 11 and which are located in semicircular grooves 16 formed in the caliper and V-shaped grooves 17 formed in the arms. Between each pin 18 and respective grooves a resilient member is provided which may be wire or metal strip springs 19 located in slots 22, the ends 23 of which engage in notches 24, or a split cylinder 39, Fig. 11 (not shown), thereby preventing rattle. Each pin 18 is axially located relative to the caliper by a cotter pin 28 inserted through a hole in the pin 18 and engaging a notch 29 in caliper 6. Two actuating pistons slidable in cylinders 10 are provided.
