Abstract
1389865 Pad type disc brakes DAIMLER-BENZ AG 2 Aug 1972 [3 Aug 1971] 36044/72 Heading F2E In a pad type disc brake, a chordal brake carrier 10 has guide means 15 parallel to the disc axis with which co-operate guide members 16 of a floating frame shaped chordal saddle 11, the saddle having its members located thereon toward the disc axis, and lateral guide means 21 of brake friction elements, the radial distance of the elements guide means from the disc axis being less than that of a brake actuating cylinder located in a longitudinal member of the saddle. As shown, the saddle 11 and elements have projections 16, 21 respectively, engaging grooves 15 of the carrier 10, bow-shaped springs 18, retained against axial movement relative to the saddle by a groove and rib respectively, preventing rattle. Alternatively, the carrier 10 has projections equivalent to the upper wall of the groove 15 which engage grooves in the saddle 11 and the elements. The brake has two cylinders for dual circuit operation. Cut-away portions 22 in the groove walls of the carrier 10 enable element removal.
