[Class 39 (ii)] [Also in Group XXII] The parts 1, 2, 3 of a battery casing suitable for use as a torch or a cycle lamp are made by a hot die-stamping process. The body 1 is produced in a two-part die 16 under the action of punches 17, 18 and a stripper 19 which also closes the die to form one edge of the forging. The web 6 is punched and tapped to receive the lamp bulb and may be curved and provided with a reflecting surface. The ends are threaded for the attachment of the lens mount 2 and the cap 3 which is large enough substantially to contain the battery, and is produced by a shouldered punch in the two-part die, the punch being recessed to form the contact 14 The lens mount is also produced by a shouldered punch, the lens opening being punched afterwards. A spring 8 breaks the circuit except when compressed by screwing the cap further into the body.
