Abstract
532,696. Electromagnetic switches; switching systems. IGRANIC ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and TOWNSEND, P. W. July 26, 1939, No. 21707 [Class 38 (v)] [Also in Group XXXV] In a system such as described in Specification 519,192 in which the opening of normally-closed contacts 7c causes the discharge of a condenser 4a through the winding 3c of a relay till, after a time interval, the current through the winding 3c is insufficient to hold the armature of the relay attracted and the relay moves to its other position, the time delay is varied bv varying the voltage to which the condenser is initially charged. This is effected by moving an arm p over a resistance 9a connected as shown. The winding 3c is the equivalent of the winding 3c in Fig. 1 of Specification 519,192. In modifications, the alternative discharge path for the condenser through resistances r1 and r2 is prevented by the provision of a switch immediately to the right of the resistance rl which opens simultaneously with switch 7c; or a rectifier may be used. The resistance r2 may also be varied simultaneously with the movement of the arm p.
