Abstract
551,910. Control systems for resistance welding. HOOLDEN & HUNT, Ltd., VAUGHAN, L., BASTERFIELD, P.K., and MASON, G. A. E. Jan. 16, 1942, No: 657. [Class 38 (iv)] A current timing device employing a condenser started by a neon 'tube, particularly for resistance spot welding.. machines, has the timing circuit and the main switch. control circuit supplied from a single transformer 4. As shown; closure of a foot or pressure switch 6: energizes a coil 8 to close the main welding transformer: switch 9 and a switch 9a whereby current is supplied over rectifier to charge the timing condenser 28 at a rate determined by the setting of resistance, switches 22. When the condenser reaches the breakdown voltage of the neon tube 25, a relay 26 closes contact 26a. A relay 7a opens at 7 the main switch coil circuit, maintaining itself at 7b until the switch 6 is opened. An interlock contact 31 may be operated with contacts 9, 9a.
