Abstract
741,939. Valve relay circuits. EXPRESS LIFT CO., Ltd., and YEOMANS, K. A. Oct. 23, 1953 [Oct. 23, 1952], No. 26646/52. Class 40 (6). A timing circuit comprises a relay having a first winding through which a direct current is passed to neutralize the residual magnetism of the relay and a second winding in the anode current path of a normally conducting valve, the timed interval being initiated by connecting the H.T. to the valve whereupon a capacitor in the grid circuit charges or discharges until the anode current is reduced to such a valve that the relay releases. On switching on the H.T. supply to the circuit shown, the relay operates due to the current through winding 16, the current through the second winding 18 being sufficient only to partly neutralize the residual magnetism of the relay. A capacitor 12 between the grid and cathode of the valve charges at first partly through the grid cathode path of the valve and then solely through resistor 13. The grid voltage accordingly slowly falls and when the anode current has decreased sufficiently, the relay releases. The circuit is restored by interrupting the H.T. and, if necessary, discharging the capacitor through a resistor 24. The delay can be varied by adjusting potentiometer 15, capacitor 12 or the current through winding 18. Preferably the relay is such that when both windings are disconnected, it remains operated.
