Abstract
532,653. Ball and roller bearings. HOFFMANN MANUFACTURING CO., Ltd. Sept. 19, 1939, No. 26152. Convention date, June 17. [Class 12 (i)] The outer race ring 10 of a ball or roller bearing is formed with a peripheral groove 11 to receive resilient material 26 encased in a metal sleeve 15 having inwardly turned end flanges 16, 17. The material 26 may be a layer of latex which is poured into the space between the shell and race ring and then heated until vulcanized. The depth of the material in the groove 11 and between the ungrooved surface of the race ring 10 and the sleeve are preferably both greater than the depth of the material between the ends 16, 17 and the ring 10.
