421,033. Roller bearings. AKTIEBOLAGET SVENSKA KULLAGERFABRIKEN, 17, Artillerigatan, Gothenburg, Sweden. May 2, 1934, No. 13296. Convention date, May 27, 1933. [Class 12 (i)] A guide ring 4 located between the rows of rollers of a self-aligning multi-row roller bearing is relieved at one or more points 7 of its outer periphery so that it can be inserted in the outer bearing ring 1. The ring 4 bears against, or is situated close to, the spherical race 6 of the ring 1 and is formed with flats 7 at diametrically opposite points so that when it is mounted between the rows of rollers 3 on the inner bearing ring 2 and the cage openings 9 opposite the flats are not filled, the rings 2, 4, the rollers 3 and their cage 5 may be moved together parallel to their own plane and at right angles to the plane of the ring 1. When the centres of the race 6 and the ring 4 coincide, the two cage openings 9 are filled and the members 2, 3, 4, 5 are turned into the plane of the ring 1. A deep single flat may alternatively be provided and there may be more than one guide ring.
