532,588. Zein solutions. CORN PRODUCTS REFINING CO. Sept. 8, 1939, No. 25449. Convention date, Dec. 15, 1938. [Class 2 (iii)] [Also in Groups III and V] Stable solutions of zein suitable for adhesive coating or impregnating purposes are made by drying the zein to remove substantially all its contained moisture, dissolving it in a mixture of a dry " primary solvent," such as dibutyl tartrate, diethylene glycol or triethylene glycol, and anhydrous ethyl alcohol. In an example 100 parts of dry zein are dissolved in 44 parts of dibutyl tartrate and 237 parts of alcohol. It is stated that the proportions may be 44-66 parts of primary solvent to 79-316 parts of alcohol.
