In dehydrating alcohol by passing alcohol vapours in countercurrent to an anhydrous molten dehydrating salt dissolved in absolute alcohol as described in Specification 368,793 a mixture of potassium and sodium acetate is used comprising preferably 70 per cent potassium acetate and 30 per cent sodium acetate.
