Abstract

532,406. Gas heating furnaces. AKT.-GES. FUR TECHNISCHE STUDIEN. Aug. 29, 1939, No. 24782. Convention date, Oct. 10, 1938. [Class 64 (i)] To prevent overheating of the tubes 2 of a gas heater used in a power plant to supply gaseous working medium to a turbine 4 from which the gas is returned to the heater by a compressor 6, part of the gas delivered by the compressor is returned directly to the heater through pipe 14 instead of returning by a pipe 10 through a heat exchanger 9 in which it is preheated by the hot gas passing from the turbine to the compressor. A valve 16 in the pipe 14 is operated by a thermostat 17 in accordance with the temperature of the heater tubes. The valve 16 may be coupled to a shut off device in the pipe 10.
