Abstract

336,078. Carlberg, P. Sept. 23, 1929. Resistance furnaces.-In a furnace for annealing or other heat treatment employing a. tubular resistance, a cooling medium is circulated through the resistance 5 when heating is completed. The ends of the resistance are connected by insulating members 3 to pipes 12, 13 coupled to a four-way valve 7 having inlet and outlet connections 18, 19. An injector for mixing various cooling media such as air, water, and steam may be provided. The furnace is closed by a lid 16 made gas tight by an oil seal 17. Connections 14, 15 for supplying a protective gas are provided. A temperature indicator may be provided.
