Abstract
232,465. Haddan, R., (Aktiebolaget Ljungstr÷ms Angturbin). July 21, 1924. Regenerators.-Apparatus for effecting the transfer of heat from one gas to another gas or to a liquid, such as the heat from the waste gases of a boiler furnace to the air for combustion in the furnace or to water, comprises in the example shown in the Figure a stationary heater 7 arranged in the smoke-box 6 of a boiler and exposed to the gases of high temperature and a rotary heater 10 throuh which the gases pass subsequently at a lower temperature. Air for combustion passes first through the rotary heater and thence through the stationary heater to the furnace. Fans 11, 12 serve to force the air and gases through the apparatus. If desired separate currents of air may be passed through the heaters. The stationary heater may be of fireproof material, while the rotary heater may be of metal. The heater 7 may be employed to heat water.
