[Class 64 (i)] In a hot blast heater comprising intermittently heated heaters 1, 2 from which hot gases pass through a heat exchanger for the preliminary heating of the air, fuel and air are supplied to the heaters by compressors 5, 6 driven by a turbine 7 operated by the hot gases flowing from the heaters to the heat exchanger. The compressors may be driven by a motor 10 when starting up.
