Abstract

532,216. Making envelopes. HOLMLUND, G. Aug. 22, 1939, No. 24165. [Class 94 (ii)] Envelopes without side flaps are made from a web 1 wide enough for two envelopes, by applying transverse stripes 10 of rubber solution on lines corresponding to the edges of the envelopes by means of stamp rolls 9 after the web has passed creases 3, then a stripe 13 by roller 12 along the middle line where the closure flaps are to be located, then longitudinal stripes 15 on the other side of the web at places which will register with the closure flaps when the envelopes are closed, then folding the web so that the portions of the lines 10 on opposite outsides of the creases 4 adhere, then cutting the web along the middle of the line 13, and finally severing the envelopes from the web along the cross lines where the edges of the envelopes are located. Holes 20 may be punched in the web to form recesses 22 in the closure flaps to facilitate opening.
