631,294. Seaming non-metallic sheet material. SHELLMAR PRODUCTS CORPORATION. Sept. 26, 1947, No. 26132. Convention date, March 20, 1939. Drawings to Specification. [Class 42 (i)] [Also in Group XVII] The overlapping edge portions of a sheet of non-fibrous cellulose material folded into container formation, carry marginal lines of a lacquer and are secured together by a thermoplastic adhesive by means of heat and pressure, the lacquer ensuring a good seal between the sheet material and the adhesive at low temperatures. The sheet material may be regenerated cellulose and may be provided on both sides with marginal lines of lacquer by means of two pairs of rollers, one roller of each pair dipping into a bath of the lacquer. The thermoplastic adhesive is applied on the lines of lacquer on one side only of the sheet and discontinuously so that when the sheet is subsequently cut up into blanks the adhesive extends over slightly more than half the length of the blank.
