Abstract

317,968. Sutter, E. July 24, 1928. Paper and like bags, making. -Relates to the making of tin, aluminium, or like foil wedgeshaped bags. A strip d, Fig. 2, is cut as shown to form side portions b, c of which the edges z form margins which are turned at right-angles. -The triangles f represent waste. Two side portions b, care spaced apart by distance pieces with the margins z projecting inwards. A strip a, Fig. 1, with a strip s of solder such as Rose's metal, glue, resin. &c., at each edge, is applied as shown in Fig. 4 to the margins of the two straight edges of the pieces b, c, a small portion z<1> of strip being applied round the corner. The formation of the bag may be effected on a hollow templet, connected to a vacuum duct, and adapted to be lowered into a corresponding mould similarly connected. By breaking the vacuum in the templet and applying it in the mould, the bag is caused to remain in the mould. The parts are pressed together by a heated die and liquid hot cheese is poured into the bag thus formed. The packet is then closed. In a modification, the strip a is not coated with solder and is laid inside the flanges the parts being united by pressure.
