Abstract

531,658. Lighting road signs &e. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., and FINCH, R. H. July 28, 1939, No. 21982. [Class 75 (iv)] A fitting to be so mounted, e.g. by clamps 2, on an advance road sign or the like that neither the light source or the sign would be visible from aircraft above employs two opaque screens 1 and 11 in succession beneath the source 6 which is so mounted as to be adjustable as shown. The first screen has a slot in it covered with a diffusive of like material and louvres 10 can direct the light so as to obtain uniform lighting. The second screen 11 has a fan shaped opening in it whose area can be regulated by movable shutters.
