Abstract
530,812. Indicating liquid level. LIGHT PRODUCTION CO., Ltd., and HUTCHINGS, P. J. July 4, 1939, No. 19416. [Class 123 (i)] In a liquid level indicator having a pivoted float connected by gearing to a pointer, the float arm 18 is carried by a fork 15 having bearings 16, 17 adjacent to but separate from the bearing of the first crown gear wheel 9. The wheel 9 meshes with a pinion carried by an electromagnet the movements of which are followed by a pointer outside the casing. The crown wheel 9 is mounted on a spindle 10 journalled in bosses 11, 12 on bracket 14, and the fork 15 is also journalled on the spindle 10. Transmission between the fork 15 and wheel 9 is effected by a steel wire 20 coiled on the wheel hub and engaging a hole in the fork. A modification is described in which the gear wheel is outside the fork and the float arm moves parallel to the indicator dial. In simpler form, the float arm may be formed by an extension of the wire 20, the end of which is bent around a cork float.
