Abstract

530,586. Snap-action switches. BAGNALL, R. I., and FOSTER TRANSFORMERS & SWITCHGEAR, Ltd., (formerly FOSTER ENGINEERING CO.,Ltd.). June 15,1939, No. 17496. [Class 38 (v)] An operating - lever 3, rotatable about pivot 4 by a handle (not shown), is connected to a contact-arm 1, pivoted at 2, by a dead-centre spring-link 6 pivoted to it at 7 and engaging a pin 8 on the arm 1. The part of arm 1 below the pivot is engageable at or beyond the position of maximum spring-strain by positive-drive surfaces 10, 11 on the lever 3, which is initially driven by projections 12, 13, adapted to engage pin 8 before the surfaces 10, 11, come into play. A projection 14 on the lever 3 engages a catch 15 on the arm 1 to prevent closure of the latter except by. the handle.
