Abstract
403,663. Tumbler switches. JOHNSON, J. Y., 47, Lincolns Inn Fields, London.-(Arrowhart & Hegeman Electric Co. ; Hartford, Connecticut, U.S.A.) June 24, 1932, No. 17902. [Class 38 (v).] A snap-action switch has an operating member 44 fixed on a spindle 49 and operatively connected by a transmission spring 60 to a switching member 16 rotatable on the spindle and having a contact button 17 at its lower end. A pin 64 on the switching member engages an aperture in a locking plate 70 which is pressed by a spring 80 so that teeth on its edge engage recesses 74 on a fixed frame plate 31. Thus the switching member 16 and plate 70 can only rotate together. A plate 76 fixed on the spindle 49 has struck up lugs 78 which engage similar lugs on the locking plate 70 to move it axially out of engagement with the recesses 74 and allow the switching member 16 to rotate. In action the operating member is moved thus straining the spring 60, until the operating member reaches its final position when the plate 76 engages the locking plate and allows the switching member to move until arrested by the teeth on the locking plate engaging the next set of recesses 74. Two sets of fixed contacts 20, 22 are provided thus giving two switching positions and a central zero position. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 21037 /11, 253,223, and 332,025, [all in Class 38 (v), Electric switches &c.].
