Abstract

529,895. Variable-speed gearing. WOLSELEY MOTORS, Ltd., and MULLENS. H. C. R. June 10, 1939, No. 17067. [Class 80 (ii)] In variable-speed gears for motor vehicles in which the speed ratio is selected by operation of an electric switch, and the direction of rotation or neutral condition is set by a separate mechanical control, the electric switch such as 1 is arranged on the lever such as 2 actuating the mechanical control, The lever 2 is shown connected to a sleeve 3 rotatable on the steering- pillar and provided with an arm 9 connected to the mechanical control. The positions of the lever 2 for neutral or forward or reverse drive may be located by a spring-pressed plunger 11 engaging recesses 13 in the arm 9. Specification 532,496 is referred to.
