Abstract
529,264. Frictional pocket igniters. GUEST. H, M. May 26, 1939. No. 15609. [Class 75 (iii)] A pocket pyrophoric lighter comprises an outer case A and a capsule holder D fitting tightly together, the case A carrying on its upper surface an igniting mechanism and a wick holder a<SP>4</SP> and on its lower face a chamber B containing cotton wool or other absorbent material. The holder D may contain one or more fuel capsules E, one of which is perforated as the holder is slid into the case A, by a hollow needle C depending from the chamber B so as to allow the fuel to enter the needle by an aperture c<SP>1</SP> and pass by a wick c<SP>2</SP> into the chamber B. The sides of the case A and holder D are formed with window slots a <SP>7</SP>, d<SP>1</SP>. The plate b enclosing the chamber B is removably attached to the top of the case A by a screw b<SP>1</SP> and is formed with an aperture b' for the passage of any fuel leakage into the holder D.
