Abstract

529,147. Metal-vapour apparatus. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. May 23, 1939, No. 15320. Convention date, May 25, 1938. [Class 39 (i)] The surface level of the liquid cathode 18 is maintained constant with respect to the starting electrode 19, despite sudden movement of the discharge device, by means of a baffle 24 arranged in the cathode and provided with an aperture 25 located centrally of the cathode and below the electrode 19. The baffle may be supported by brackets 26, a hole for the passage of the insulated lead-in to the electrode 19 and further holes 27 adapted to regulate the movement of the cathode liquid during tilting.
