Abstract

529,093. Tip-wagons. WOOD HOISTS, Ltd., and HOULDSWORTH, R. April 12, 1939, No. 11083. [Class 108 (i)] In power driven hydraulic tipping gear for vehicles, the pump and container for the hydraulic medium are comprised as a unit with the ram which is arranged in an inclined position between the chassis and body. The container 7 surrounds the ram 8 and has a cover 18 bolted to the base 19 of the ram which has a pair of bearing members 20 riding on the trunnion 10 formed on a block 16 adjustably mounted by set-screws 23 on a member 15 secured to the chassis member 1. The ram is connected at 21 centrally of the body which is hinged to the chassis at 4. A gear pump 9 such as described in Specification 386,105 and driven from the vehicle lower take-off 11 through shaft 12 and universal joints 13, 14 delivers to the ram through a pipe 17 and a combined holding and overload relief valve 25 such as described in Specification 500,232 controlled by handlever 31 and rod 30. The valve 25 functions to hold the body in any position upon stopping the pump and acts as a byepass when the body is fully elevated, say to 50 deg. A plunger or rotary pumping may replace the gear pump and the ram may effect the tipping action through a cam plate.
