Abstract

973,169. Compacting ground. M. BOSCHUNG. March 13, 1962 [March 14, 1961], No. 9630/62. Heading E1G. A ground compacting machine driven from a conventional power take-off of a motor vehicle comprises two plates 4 each carrying a rotary vibrator 6 coupled through step-up gearing to a common driving shaft 11, the eccentric masses of one vibrator being angularly displaced through 180 degrees from those of the other vibrator and the plates 4 being connected to a common frame 1 through lugs 5a and rubber bushes 5. Each vibrator casing welded to its respective plate 4 carries a pair of lugs 7, each lug having a vertical threaded hole located over a member of the frame 1. When the machine is not in use bolts 8 are screwed into these holes until they contact the frame 1 to relieve the rubber bushes 5 of some of the weight of the vibrators and plates, and the machine is raised through parallelogram linkages and an hydraulic jack connecting lugs 2 and 3 respectively on the frame 1 with the driving vehicle. The machine is raised relative to the driving vehicle by means of an hydraulic jack (not shown) acting between the vehicle and lugs 3 on the frame 1, lugs 2 on the frame being connected to the vehicle by parallelogram linkages.
