528,304. Photegraphic contact-printing apparatus. BEKK & KAULEN CHEMISCHE FABRIK GES. May 3, 1939, No. 13264. Convention date, May 5, 1938. [Class 98 (ii)] An image carried on a transparent flexible sheet is printed by contact on to a cylinder coated with a light-sensitive layer, contact being secured by sealing the edges of the sheet after wrapping it round the cylinder against the cylinder and evacuating the intermediate space between the sheet and the cylinder through one or more openings in the sheet for example at its edge. A soft rubber head attached to a suction pipe, which may be provided with a valve or cock, may be placed over the opening in the forme. The sealing between the edge of the sheet and the cylinder may be effected by glued strips &c. and the edges of the sheet do not abut but either overlap or do not meet. The sheet may have projections or recesses round the images to be copied to permit of complete evacuation of the air. Threads or wires may be fixed on the sheet to provide the projections.
