Abstract

527,911. Cleaning oils. SANDOR, B., and ASCHNER, K. March 13, 1939, No. 8044. [Class 91 ] [Also in Group I] Prior to filtering, a charge of oil is heated in a vessel 1 into which a telescopic partition 15 with an open top, a perforated base 16 and a baffle 17 is inserted. The partition is held away from the wall of the vessel by distance pieces 18 and when heat is applied, as by a burner below, the oil is circulated up the wall and downwards within the partition. The partition is then removed and a discharge pipe 7 with a hollow filter element 5 is inserted. The top of the vessel is closed by a cover 3 and suction or compressed air supplied through a pipe 2 causes the oil to pass out through the filter and pipe 7. The filter element may be cleaned by a scraper embracing the contact of the element and rotated by means of a handle outside the vessel.
