Abstract
<PICT:0493473/III/1> An apparatus for cleansing metal articles such as parts of motor cars, consists of a tank 1 within which is supported an inner bath 6 having an open base, upon the flanged edges of which rests a sludge filter box 9, provided with a perforated lid. The sludge filter box has openings in the sides covered by removable frames of wire gauze and is readily removed from the inner bath for cleaning. In operation, the articles are placed on the perforated lid, and are washed with paraffin drawn from a sump 20 by a pump 4 and forced through a pipe 25 which is preferably provided at its upper end with rotating spray jets. The dirty paraffin passes through the filter box, which retains sludge and solid particles, to the sump 20.
