Abstract
527,298. Luminescent materials. DUREX ABRASIVES, Ltd., and CORWIN, C. H. March 30, 1939, No. 9976. [Class 39 (i)] An adhesive sheet or tape which is luminescent is formed with a transparent or translucent backing to which adhesive and luminescent compositions are applied either on the same side or on opposite sides ; the backing may be a film of material known under the Registered Trade Mark " Cellophane". The adhesive may be uncured rubber, rubber latex or a rubber rosin composition. The luminous material may be anchored to the backing by a rubber-rosin coating ; it may be caesium, strontium, cadmium or zinc sulphide or a mixture of zinc sulphide and radium bromide. Zinc oxide may be mixed with the composition. Two or more coatings of the luminous material may be applied to the backing. As binders polystyrene lacquer, polymerized vinyl acetate lacquer, dammar, latex and methacrylate may be used. The adhesive and luminous materials may be applied together or separately. Two examples of mixes are :-(i) milled rubber base consisting of latex and zinc oxide, latex water white wood rosin, ester gums, preservative, anti-oxidant, heptane and luminous material ; (ii) as in (i) with liquid paraffin. The proportions of the two mixes are given. As preservative beta naphthol may be used ; as anti-oxidants diphenylamine, aldol-naphthylamine and phenylnapthylamine. The adhesive sheet or tape materials may be as described in Specifications 405,247, 405,263, [both in Group VIII], 405,270, [Group XVII], 427,700, 427,701, 427,702 and 431,560, [all in Group VIII]. Specifications 312,610, [Class 140], 425,159, 425,343 482,575, and 482,815, [all in Group VIII], also are referred to.
