Abstract
526,332. Measuring feed of granular material. GOUDSMIT, J. L. March 13, 1939, No. 8075. Convention date, March 12, 1938. [Class 106 (iv)] An apparatus for measuring the quantity of material conveyed by a feeding device through an aperture such as fuel on a chain grate comprises a crank arm 16, Figs. 2 and 3, driven by a sprocket wheel 6 from the chain grate, the arm being provided with a guiding block 14 to impart an oscillating movement to a slotted lever 12 freely mounted on a hollow shaft 10. The lever 12 is formed with a stop 17 against which bears a projection 18 on a driving arm 19 under the control of a torsion spring 20. The arm 19 is provided with a block 21 carrying a stop 23 and a pair of spaced pawls 22 engaging a ratchet wheel 24 operatively connected through bevel gearing 25, 26 to the actuating shaft of a counting mechanism (not shown). The effective length of the stroke of the pawls is controlled by a stop arm 27 that co-operates with the stop 23. The arm 27 is secured to a shaft 7 to which is attached a torsion spring 9 and a rope pulley 8. The height of the aperture is regulated by the rope, and the position of the arm 27 is adjusted. accordingly.
