Abstract
526,255. Continuous billet-heating. furnaces, DEHN, F. B. (Amsler Morton International, Inc.). March 10, 1939, No. 7850. [Class 51 (ii)] A continuous billetheating furnace comprises an elongated heating - chamber A through which the billets are pushed on skid rails 6 on to a soaking hearth 3 and discharged through a door 10. Burner ports 14, 15, 16 are arranged at the ends of the furnace and at 17 intermediate the ends, the burners 16, 17 also being arranged below the level of the hearth and skid rails. The main portion of the gases passes through a flue 18 adjacent the centre portion of the heating chamber and to recuperators for heating air supplied to the burners. Gases also escape from the heating chamber through ports 56 adjacent the charging end of the furnace. The furnace roof slopes downwardly at the centre towards the flue 18.
