Abstract

526,163. Yarns or cords. WINGFOOTCORPORATION. Jan. 7, 1939, No. 620. Convention date, Oct. 25, 1938. Drawings to Specification. [Class 120 (iii)] A yarn or cord for reinforcing tyres, belting, and other articles is made from continuous filaments of high tenacity artificial silk of large denier and has a relatively high yam twist which is at least as great as the ply twist, the twists being in opposite directions. The individual yarns are of 900-1500 or 3000 or more denier and the yarn twist may be 9-15 turns per inch, e.g. the yarn twist may be 13 turns per inch and the ply twist 10.5 turns per inch. Yarns of various deniers and of other twists are described. Specifications 424,767, 452,771 and 512,002 are referred to.
